Project Details
TRO Jung|Brannen designed this 26-cottage independent living community on the campus of Russell Medical Center in Alexander City, Alabama. The development offers residents a comfortable, relaxed lake-area lifestyle within a close-knit community and immediate access to a broad range of healthcare services, including emergency care, inpatient and outpatient surgery, cancer treatment, geriatric care, and others in the hospital’s 81-bed acute care facility. The community sold out before construction was complete, demonstrating a clear and well-recognized local need.
Each single-story 1,314 square foot cottage features a distinctive architectural style that complements the neighborhood. Easy-to-maintain floor plans include two bedrooms, two baths, a main living and dining area beside a full-service kitchen, a carport, and a patio. Exterior designs combine stone elements with varied siding materials, while interiors include modern appliances, fixtures, and fireplaces.
A future Phase II assisted living facility will further extend Benjamin Russell Jr.’s legacy on the Sterling Gate site.
