Project Details
East Alabama Health’s current Psychiatric services, both inpatient licensed beds and outpatient services, have been relocated to East Alabama North, the new Behavioral Health Hospital, opened last year with a total of 20 child/adolescent and 20 adults licensed beds. On a site is near EA Health’s main hospital, the building is divided into two one-story sections for the inpatient and outpatient service modalities.
The inpatient segment includes private patient rooms with beds and showers, private meeting and therapy spaces, group therapy along with secure staff monitoring stations, inside. The outpatient provides meeting rooms and offices. All patients have access to secure exterior recreational spaces, monitored by staff and viewing stations.
Rooms were designed with anti-ligature hardware, equipment, and finishes for patient protection throughout. Staff and visitor security was considered during the planning, design, and construction processes, as well.
A reception area for visitors is located at the main entrance, with ample visitor parking. A breezeway tucked between buildings offers an unexpected outdoor respite for staff members on pleasant days.
