East Alabama Medical Center - Pinnacle Cardiovascular Associates

PROJECT DETAILS

TRO Jung|Brannen was commissioned to design a Professional Office Building for East Alabama Medical Center that would become the home to Pinnacle Cardiovascular Associates. The 37,700 square foot, two-story facility was designed to consolidate two existing hospital associated private practices to the EAMC Village Professional Park. The building includes offices for fifteen physicians, nurse practitioners and other business and clinical staff.

The building is clad with prefinished fiber cement siding and slate shingle cladding and incorporates the latest technology in exterior insulated structural sheathing design to simplify the installation of the required continuous insulation. The selected exterior materials offer a reduced exterior maintenance and building cost while maintaining the architectural vocabulary of the adjacent Cancer Center.

The POB’s first floor has clear traffic patterns for users including a main corridor and a parallel staff corridor, both of which are dissected by a passage corridor where patients and staff both move between functions in the building.  Along the inside of the entrance wall, the entrance lobby and large, light-filled waiting room houses patients whose next destination, after processing through receiving, may be toward diagnostic, clinical, and/or rehab, along the continuum of their medical visit. Also, along that section of the building, the first floor includes imaging, general radiology, phlebotomy, nuclear cardiology, and treadmill rooms, in addition to business offices and meeting spaces.  Along the facing or back wall of the building, treatment spaces are organized in clusters of 6 clinic pods, each of which includes triage, private exam rooms, changing rooms, soiled and clean linen storage, and physician viewing areas.
