Cullman Regional Medical

Vertical Expansion

PROJECT DETAILS

The Cullman Regional Patient Tower vertical expansion is a one-floor addition to the Hospital, adding 30 med/surg beds, a central nurse station, private family waiting area, and public seating at the elevator lobby. A window glass wall allows abundant natural light in the lobby and wifi connections are provided throughout. Finishes were chosen for durability utilizing a neutral, warm palette. The Hospital, which was relocated from downtown Cullman, originally opened in 1995. It was built in an area that was more farm land than thoroughfare, but through the years, the medically developed neighborhood brought change and growth.

While the Hospital still occupies its prominent place on the property, it became evident for several years that the patient community required more beds. With logical project planning and phasing, the project was completed ahead of schedule and on budget. A CON was approved and expansion began. A new mechanical penthouse was constructed. Two of the public elevators and one service elevator were extended to the new floor by careful phasing.
